Great White Witbier from Lost Coast Brewery is as smooth and refreshing as a Duffy boat cruise on a hot summer day. Definitely pack a 6-pack or two on-board, along with some spicy Pepper Jack Cheese and Peaches to bring out the Citrus and Coriander.
The Washdown:
- lemon pine nose, coriander orange flavor, yellow-white colored Great White Witbier (Lost Coast Brewery, Eureka, CA) 4.8% ABV
Great White is an unfiltered beer, which usually means it's cloudy in color from this beer's two-row malted barly, unmalted wheat, and ale yeast. But Great White is so shiny golden yellowish-white in color that the minimal cloudiness kinda sneaks up on you. (Du nuh, du nuh, dunuh dunuh dunuh dunuh....)
The sharp nose is prominently Zesty Lemon. The bite is Coriander and a secret blend of Humboldt herbs – perhaps a touch of Cardamom, Ginger, and Honey. The head pours super thick, but quickly disintegrates, and the carbonation is fresh, yet mellow.
To taste all the great flavors in this crispy, citrusy beer, pair it with a Fried Fish Sandwich with Spicy Aioli, and a summer Spinach Peach Salad with some Pepper Jack Cheese.
You'll definitely wanna open your jaws wide for this one.
I'm just getting into beers being a die hard wine snob. I really appreciate your knowledge and information shared regarding these sophisticated brews!
