This year's version of Dogfish Head Festina Peche is a big improvement from last year's.
As expected from the brewery, Dogfish Head always manages to marry interesting flavors with unique brewing history, making this German style BerlinerWeisse a new twist on an old flavor. The Lemon and Peach flavors definitely are a stand out lending itself more to the Cider family.
The Washdown:
- smarkly champy in color and texture, two note lemon-peach flavor with a very smooth finish, Festina Peche (Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton, Delaware) 4.5% ABV
This brew is best to be enjoyed on a hot summer day, grillin' some Shrimp on the Bar-B. The nose is Peachy, but Lemon is the first thing to hit your tongue. The finish is much like a Sour Ale with a Lactic Acid bite.
Let's see if next years' tweaks to the brewing process help bring out the Fuzz in which it's entitled as opposed to the hidden Citrus.
