It might be Cinco de Mayo, but it's also Library Ale House's Belgian Beerfest in Santa Monica from now until Wednesday May 11th. So in honor of it, Your Next Pint decided to tip back Poperings Hommel Ale. This beer hails from "Hommel" the heart of the hops region in Belgium, naturally, making this IPA one to write home about. Similar to Holland's Heineken, Hommel is served in a green-colored champagne size bottle and should be poured in a traditional Belgium style beer glass.
The Washdown:
- smells like Mary Jane's version of Bud Light, tastes strikingly like a copper penny Poperings Hommel Ale (Brewery Van Eecke) 7.5% ABV
The mild nose is greeted with Citrus hints that are balanced by hops, giving this beer a well rounded mouth feel. It drinks smooth and finishes with floral aromas.
P.S. If you're really cravin' a cold one with lime, knock back last year's review on Negra Modelo from Candela Taco Bar & Lounge.
