In honor of The Royal Wedding taking place momentarily, Your Next Pint wanted to review an old classic, Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout from Tadcaster England. I'm quite sure Prince William would rather knock back a pint of this for dessert versus a slice of heavy wedding cake. Most likely because it's surprisingly lighter than it sounds, and it goes down smooth – perhaps just like Kate's wedding dress after the nuptials.
The Washdown:
- smells like a meal, malty chocolatey date taste, yet much smoother than expected Oatmeal Stout (Samuel Smiths Old Brewery in Tadcaster, England) ABV 5.0%
The bloody brilliance of this beer is that you can actually have your cake and your beer too. The nose is a mixture of Raisins and Dates. The tongue is sprightly. The taste is like Burnt Chocolate Orange Peel. The head is as thick as a British Bobby. And the finish is creamy like a bowl of morning Oatmeal.
So let's a raise a glass to Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Cheers!
